About this clinic
As part of University Hospital Magdeburg, the department of reproductive medicine and gynecological endocrinology combines clinical care with university medicine. The center is embedded in the state women’s hospital of Saxony-Anhalt (Landesfrauenklinik Sachsen-Anhalt) and cares for couples trying to conceive from Magdeburg and the entire federal state. More than 1,000 children have been born so far through treatments in this department, which concretely demonstrates the team’s many years of experience. The range of treatments includes IVF, insemination, cryopreservation, and sperm donation treatments. For fertility preservation, elective egg freezing is offered for women without a medical indication, as well as medical fertility preservation for patients before chemotherapy or surgical procedures on the ovaries. The same applies to men who want to freeze sperm before cancer treatment. The center is also a member of the FertiPROTEKT network for fertility counseling in cancer-related conditions. One clinical focus is endometriosis: the women’s hospital has a certified endometriosis center in which diagnostic and surgical procedures such as laparoscopy and hysteroscopy are performed both on an outpatient and inpatient basis. The offering is complemented by a dedicated hormone consultation as well as pediatric and adolescent gynecology. The interdisciplinary connection to university specialist departments, including hematology, endocrinology, urology, and genetics, makes it possible to refer complex cases within the hospital and treat them jointly. The center accepts heterosexual and lesbian couples as well as single women. Patients with recurrent miscarriage and hormonal disorders are likewise cared for in separate consultation hours. The practice is open Monday through Friday, on Wednesdays until 6:00 p.m. Appointments can be booked by phone, email, or online.
