Costs and funding
This section applies to Austria only.
In Austria, the IVF Fund (IVF-Fonds) covers 70% of the costs for up to four attempts, including medication. A specific medical indication is required (tubal factor infertility, endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), or male infertility), and the woman must be under 40 and the man under 50 when an attempt starts. Treatment under the Fund takes place at its contracted centers: in Graz, that is 3 of the 4 clinics listed here (IVF Fund list, as of 02/2026).
Elective egg freezing without a medical reason is currently not permitted in Austria. The Constitutional Court (Verfassungsgerichtshof) has struck down the ban, but the repeal only takes effect at the end of March 31, 2027. Until then, eggs may only be frozen if a condition or its treatment threatens fertility.
