About this clinic
The fertility clinic at Hannover Medical School (MHH) is part of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is led by Prof. Dr. Cordula Schippert. As part of one of the largest university hospitals in Germany, couples here benefit from close integration with other specialties: urology, endocrinology, radiology, and the children's hospital are all accessible under one roof, which allows interdisciplinary treatment pathways without long referral chains. The diagnostic spectrum ranges from hormone analyses and transvaginal ultrasound through the evaluation of recurrent miscarriage to testing for uterine NK cells and plasma cells in cases of repeated implantation failure. On the treatment side, IVF, ICSI, and IUI are offered, as are TESE, sperm donation in cooperation with external sperm banks, and procedures such as assisted hatching, blastocyst culture, and calcium ionophore treatment. Acupuncture is also available as a supportive option. One set of consultation hours is dedicated to patients with endometriosis or fibroids, another to fertility preservation in cases of cancer diagnosis. This focus on oncological fertility preservation is not established in this form at many fertility clinics. According to the clinic, current national and international study results, including the MHH's own research, are incorporated into treatment planning. The first appointment requires a gynecological referral. Prior findings, semen analysis results, and lab values are requested in advance so that the initial consultation can focus directly on an individual diagnostic or treatment plan. In addition, the clinic offers regular information evenings as live video chats, at which questions can be discussed directly with the treating doctors.
