Vitro-Med Kinderwunschzentrum

Vitro-Med is a reproductive medicine center in downtown Bochum, led by gynecologist Y. Giesner as the lead physician. The center is deliberately built on a model in which patients are cared for by the same physician throughout. This means: no change of contact person between the initial consultation, stimulation, and egg retrieval. The range of services covers the classic assisted reproduction procedures: IUI, IVF, and ICSI, complemented by IMSI, assisted hatching, polar body biopsy, and the MESA/TESE procedure for surgical sperm retrieval. Appointments are scheduled according to the patient’s treatment cycle and are made by phone, because the practice emphasizes individual appointment planning. Vitro-Med includes an integrated cryobank. There, cryopreservation of egg and sperm cells is offered not only as part of fertility treatment. The center is also a member of the FertiPROTEKT network, which advises oncology patients on fertility-preserving measures before they begin chemotherapy or radiation therapy. This area is aimed at people who want to secure their fertility before cytotoxic treatment. In addition, Vitro-Med has a sperm bank with its own donor selection process and offers sperm donation for recipients. Lesbian couples are explicitly addressed as a patient group. The practice is located at Massenbergstraße 19 to 21 on the first floor above the ground floor, easily accessible for couples from the Ruhr region.
