About this clinic
As part of the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV) in Lausanne, the unit for fertility medicine and gynecological endocrinology combines university research with the clinical care of couples facing infertility. More than 5,000 children have been born thanks to this unit’s treatments since it was founded more than three decades ago, which illustrates the breadth of its clinical experience. The range of services covers the full spectrum of assisted reproduction: from intrauterine insemination (IUI) with partner or donor sperm, through conventional IVF and ICSI, to preimplantation genetic testing such as PGT-A, PGT-M, and PGT-SR. For men with severe fertility disorders, surgical sperm retrieval by TESE is available. The unit also explicitly serves married female couples, for whom treatment is accessible under Swiss law. In addition to reproductive medicine, the department offers specialized consultation hours for women with endometriosis and adenomyosis, with a multidisciplinary team involved in their care. Further counseling services cover cycle disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), recurrent miscarriage, and the transition into menopause. Psychological counseling and support groups round out the offering and can be used alongside medical treatment. For patients who want to preserve their fertility independent of an immediate wish for a child, elective fertility preservation through egg cryopreservation is possible. The affiliated andrology and reproductive biology laboratory handles the embryology work. Office hours are Monday through Friday (except Wednesday and Friday afternoons), and appointments can be made by phone.
