About this clinic
The Münchner Netzwerk Kinderwunsch (Munich Fertility Network) is not a conventional fertility center but an association of women professionals from various fields: doctors, psychologists, therapists, alternative practitioners, and social workers. Together they cover a broad range of support services for people facing infertility. The focus is on psychosocial counseling and supportive services: before, during, and after medical treatment, in coping with repeated disappointments or negative test results, and in processing miscarriages. Topics also include questions about sperm donation, alternative family forms, and single motherhood by choice. Several members of the network are certified according to the guidelines of the Beratungsnetzwerk Kinderwunsch Deutschland (BKiD e.V.), including a specialization in counseling related to gamete donation. The network includes, among others, pro familia in Munich with locations in Schwabing and Neuaubing, the practice for talk therapy of Birgit Scharer, which focuses on systemic individual and couples therapy, the fertility practice München Nord (Dr. Simon Mittenzwei, Dr. Judith Rattenhuber), as well as the Protestant counseling center in Munich (Evangelisches Beratungszentrum München) and the Catholic women’s social service (Sozialdienst katholischer Frauen). The offering is complemented by an open support group for women and couples. Many counseling services within the network are free of charge. Counseling takes place in person as well as by phone or online. The network expressly sees itself as a point of contact that regards the conventional medical, complementary medical, psychological, and ethical dimensions of involuntary childlessness as equally important.
